Earlier this year, the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) released three consultation papers seeking feedback from the disability sector on proposed changes to the NDIS. One of the changes outlined was the proposed implementation of Independent Assessments for both new and existing NDIS participants.
Since then, the Minster for the NDIS has announced that further time will be taken to consult more extensively with the disability sector in June/July on any proposed changes. We see this as a positive step taken and will result in no changes for our clients as present.
This consultation is being led by the Independent Advisory Council, which comprises 12 independent members to the NDIA, with a wide range of experience from the disability and advocacy sectors, including their own lived experience or expertise of disability.
As a result, any proposed changes outlined earlier will not occur until after the Government considers the feedback from the consultation undertaken.
My Plan Manager will provide further updates to its clients on any proposed changes in due course.
