Enjoying the great outdoors on wheels

The outdoors is for everyone, and in South Australia, the government is investing to make it more accessible, with all-terrain wheelchairs and electric trikes now available at popular tourist spots.

This means, if you’re a wheelchair user, you can now visit the famous Riesling Trail in the Clare Valley, head to Melrose at the base of Mt Remarkable, or experience the Yorke Peninsula, famed for its rugged coastline and fishing.

The project is being championed by the Department for Environment and Water’s Access For All coordinator, Yvette Eglinton – a wheelchair user and former triathlete – who says the initiative will allow more people with disability to enjoy the outdoors with their families and friends, opening the doors to nature.
